Escapees/One Dream  Flek-O'Reilly

He was born by a four-lane highway

Swore to God he'd get out of that place

Say goodbye to the land of plenty

The land of  gluttony, avarice and greed.

His ways would be the lanes and byeways

Buy himself a few acres of land

Turn a living from God's own soil

By the sweat and labour of his own hands.

Said he'd swap all those girls of the city

For a country girl with simple tastes.

He met her one day down at the crossroads

Strong hands and a pretty face.

It wasn't long before they were married

Made a home and settled down

But five years later she up and she left him

Lured by the bright city lights downtown

One man's freedom is another man’s prison

One man’s poison another man’s cure

We walk the same road in different directions

One to the mountains, one to the shore

Chorus

One dream to keep us together

One dream to tear us apart

One dream of a golden tommorrow

One dream living in two hearts
